This was really interesting to read, because as you said, I don't think you've ever really talked much about it. And Liam, who is now nearly two and a half and, as far as I know, not on the spectrum, has rituals proliferating at the moment. He shows no other signs whatever of being on the spectrum, so I assume it's just developmental but it has made me wonder once or twice. The idea that it is about empowerment is makes good sense, because he definitely going through an independence gaining phase (like I said, he's two).

Putting that knowledge into play,in a matter-of- fact,non-threatening way, is an art. I hope, on the difficult days, you appreciate that about yourself.
